Mac mini / BootCamp ?

Has anyone gotten LMDE to work on a Mac with BootCamp or rEFIt? I have a Mac Mini Server here that was dual-booting Mac OS X 10.7 and OpenSUSE 12.1, but I'd really rather have LMDE on it. I have since learned the hard way that not all installers are smart enough to deal with EFI and GPT.
With BootCamp, it seems no matter what I do, I end up screwing up the partition table and rendering the second drive unreadable.
With rEFIt on the first drive, I can get it almost there, but can't get the LMDE installer to install grub to the partition I just installed LMDE to (/dev/sda5).

Perhaps I need to set up a USB key to boot from the other partition... hmm...

To reply to my own thread, setting up Arch Linux with the syslinux bootloader and rEFIt on the Mac side works just fine. I think the kickers were the boot loader and Arch having gdisk as an option to partition the drive.
