Normally use Mepis 7 so thought id like to try out something else.
having installed Mint 4 Gnome on a triple boot system quiet impressed, but i have one niggly problem after install apps with gdebi and package manager i have to wait for between 30 to 60 seconds before i can use the menu to, why is this happening.
I already tried this out yesterday so i put on mint KDE did not like it so i reinstalled mint 4 gnome, and still have this delay in using the menu system, so has anyone any ideas as to why it takes as long.

Re: Menu Problems
There is a kind of bug in mintMenu that locks it for maybe 10 seconds after you have installed something and the menu is being changed
Have not heard about it from KDE but there it's tasty menu which can have a small delay
This can be fixed with the latest version of mintMenu
Enable the Romeo repository - I think you know how to - I prefer to edit sources.list
Then
apt update
and perhaps also
apt dist-upgrade
Note - this is no typo but a Mint special
Or better use mintUpdate to install mintMenu
The latest version is much better in this respect
