md5sum won't match

Post by Ignatius881 »

Hello.

I've a really annoying problem when I download Linux Mint. I want to install Linux Mint MATE 64bit. I downloaded it from a mirror, and md5sum doesn't match. I downloaded it again from another mirror, and the same problem. So I downloaded it in torrent format. My torrent client has verified the download 8 times or more, and md5sum still doesn't match.

What is going on? :x

Correct MD5: 2d84f671ad77a8019dfa6e1d00572d82 (from here).

Some of my MD5: d80fb83d5796489c8935e98f040d0b13 // c7cc23d4edbee2185af7c8ca9d896352 // 0f3a27a72053893dab1e5046a585bee2 // b4c0c98181a02e50b1a13207329ea4d9

How are you calculating the md5sum? Here's a couple of ways.

I'm using the terminal application "md5sum", which is installed by default.

I'm using Linux since 2010, and I've never had this problem. A week ago I started to notice it, and since then, every iso I download shows random hashes, no matter if it's from torrent or direct download, no matter which distro I'm using, and so on :?

PD: Even iso images which I downloaded several months ago currently show random hashes, when at that time the md5sum matched :?

Sounds like a problem with your system, perhaps a failing drive?

I've downloaded Ubuntu 12.04.1 64-bit version, checked three times the md5sum, and it was correct three times :?
