[solved] how long is normal KDE boot time ??

hello, I'm using kde 4.8.4 now and I get this weird thing: real boot time (by stopwatch) is far different than dmesg output.. I've tried this on unofficial LMDE KDE (tracking testing, full upgrade) and Mint 13 KDE (fresh install).
On my stopwatch, the desktop loaded after 2 minutes and 26 second (on LMDE KDE) and ~ 2 minutes on Mint 13 KDE, but dmesg only show 55 sec..

Is that normal to have 2,5 minutes boot time ?? on mint 11 (gnome2), its only 45 sec. I think my system isn't normal, still no luck on google search on optimizing KDE startup..

Hi, I'll post this just for a comparison. My hardware, listed below, is different than yours so it is only a comparison. From a cold start to a login window is around 30 seconds and maybe 2 seconds more for the desktop. I have my bios splash screen enabled so I may cut a few seconds by disabling it, haven't tried. I know my old, retired Pentium D system did not take 2 minutes to load Mint 13 cinnamon. I don't know how a Pentium D compares to an AMD E 350. A Pentium D is the first dual core Intel made so it is slow, and with only 1 Gb ram. On that old system I don't think any of the 3 Linux distros I tried took much more than 1 minute to a login screen.

aghhh.. thats so fast.. I did some tips from KDE forum (disable services and such) and now it load on ~20 second, from login screen to desktop..
And about cold boot-login screen, I reinstall my LMDE system and it runs normal now boot time ~ 40 sec.. I still dont know whats wrong with my first install, but my problem solved now

You know sumpin? Part of the initial fascination of building a new computer is how much faster it's going to be over the old one. When I first built this one, yes it was amazing. I kept missing the bios del key because it was so quick. That's why I left the splash screen enabled. If I added an SSD, OS and programs would load in half the time. Eh, I can live with what I have. If I don't turn it off I don't care how long it takes to boot. It's a month later now and it all seems normal. Just imagine 10 years from now when we all use 3d type storage devices and any OS loads in less than 1 second. Happy days?

Hey, let me add this. I also did the disabling of unnecessary services etc right from the start. I also installed Bleachbit. I have only run it 2 or 3 times on this new install of Mint 13 KDE. I was surprised at how much junk the Linux OS accumulates in temp files, no longer used files from before an upgrade etc. I think it is worse than Windows. CCleaner never found 500 Mb worth of junk from just 1 day.
Maybe that program could help clear some useless filler from the OS . Just be careful it doesn't delete something you don't want it to.
