Re: KDE start menu
Hey ljenux,
Try this:
Right click on a blank spot on your task bar and choose "Add Applet to Panel". Scroll down to the K Menu and click "Add to Panel".
Then to remove the Tasty Menu (Mint KDE's default)--hover over the menu until a little arrow appears and click on it and choose "Remove Tasty Menu".
Right click on the K Menu and choose "Move K Menu" and drag it to where you want it.

Beat me to it...and I agree, even though the functionality of Tasty is better in theory, I prefer the old menu. I suppose if Tasty had been the default for all these years, it would have been the other way around. Just human nature I guess...much the same behavior people exhibit when being schooled about Linux...sure it's better but I have to learn it...ugh..

Re: KDE start menu
I did that but now, instead of the nice MintKDE icon, I just have a part of it (bottom left quarter)...
It's useless to remove the K menu and replace it with Tasty, the ugly icon stays the same

Re: KDE start menu
Kanishka is correct, the K Menu icon is malformed.
So now the question becomes: How do you fix the K Menu icon so that it displays correctly?

right click your panel, choose configure panel, then set the size to 38 pixels is one way.foggytown wrote:Kanishka is correct, the K Menu icon is malformed.

(if you don't mind making your panel a little smaller.)
Re: KDE start menu
I personally love the Start Menu for open$U$E which seems to be incorporated with KDE4.
Re: KDE start menu
Just installed... same problem but that fix did not work for me... any other ideas?deadguy wrote:right click your panel, choose configure panel, then set the size to 38 pixels is one way.

I don't have a solution, but I do admire the problem.

Hmm, it worked for me on two different computers..Sorensei wrote:Just installed... same problem but that fix did not work for me... any other ideas?deadguy wrote:right click your panel, choose configure panel, then set the size to 38 pixels is one way.

I tried to find where to actually change the icon to no avail.
if I figure it out I'll post back.
anyone else know????

Could it relate to screen resolution? I have a wide screen 1680x1050.

Re: KDE start menu
I sussect kmenu is trying to scale a large icon to small but does it the wrong way.
or there can be an icon cache that needs clearing since it will use the cache one (of the same name) if found.
from my notes:
clean up of icon cache's in /usr/share/icons/*, find and remove all icon-theme.cache files.

I have 1680x1050 on one and 1280x1024 on the other.
I'm going to try Boo's suggestion as well.

Yeah, that did the trick! Thanks!deadguy wrote:right click your panel, choose configure panel, then set the size to 38 pixels is one way.

Looks a bit messy to me, but then again I'm not the biggest KDE fan out there!dracorX wrote:--- Advertisement ---
