If anyone intersted...
Swift Linux (a light LMDE based Distro 32bit only tho) will upgrade (the current version 2 ISO is based on UP3 I think) directly to UP5. May (I did) have to install MDM for X to work depending on Video card.
Now to decide if try Xfce or Lxde on it

It also is fairly easy to update to testing and sid (although I haven't tried sid in a while - sid is too unstable for me). It skips over all of the gnome/nautilus/gdm problems that lmde has.
Edit: Another plug for swift linux - if you take swift linux and install KDE on it, it only uses 250 MB of RAM, which is only about 30 more than Xubuntu 12.04
