Hello, I'm Ryan Epod

Post by Epod »

Well here's a little introduction about myself:
I love computers I've been working on them since I can remember really I still remember my first computer ever it was an IBM Aptiva Pentium II @ 133Mhz 16Mb SD Ram 10Gb HDD 8x CD-Rom Drive lol. Let's see I've been using Linux full time now since 2001 started off with Debian 2.2 Potato, A Boxed version of Red Hat Linux 7.1 and I had a boxed version of OpenSuSE 9.1 in 04' I'm fairly well rounded in my knowledge of Linux I have dedicated alot of time to it it's honestly my #1 hobby/career/life. Since about 2006 I started using Ubuntu Linux (6.06 LTS was by first version) which really seemed to revolutionize The Linux Desktop for more then nerds 8) then I started using Linux Mint 6 Felicia in 08' then I pretty much skipped around Ubuntu,Xubuntu,Linux Mint, and mainly Kubuntu I used Kubuntu from 2009-2012 (I loved KDE 4.x though never really cared for 3.x) Then switched full time to Linux Mint 13 with Cinnamon which has be extremely impressive It was the first time since 2009 that I switched from KDE to a Gnome base in Cinnamon I love the progress Cinnamon has made It's fast, agile, and modern It has just enough Desktop effects without over doing it (I loved Kwin but got sick of it with the spinning cubes and the bouncing icons and all the other nonsense Kubuntu 12.04-12.10 use to eat up about 800Mbs of ram at idle I thought Kwin in KDE 4.5+ it was light years ahead of Compiz which I never really cared for at all) Anyway I work with Linux as a living my offical title is: Linux System Deployment Specialist and Linux Technical Debugger.
This is my first time on the Linux Mint forums though I've been active on the Ubuntu forums for quite awhile I was under to different names there "RxDx" and "Epodx64" feel free to look up my post if you want I excel in Intel Onboard Graphics Video problems I'm pretty good with older ATI cards and Nvidia as well.
Well I Look forward to helping out around here as I do enjoy helping people transition to Linux (and supporting Linux) I suspect we'll have quite a few converts when Windows 8 is launched with the Metro U.I. (my mom hates it and is getting Ubuntu because of it lol) I converted by Dad to use Xubuntu (long story he likes speed over all else he started with Ubuntu but loved Xubuntu after I set it up) put that's pretty much me in a Nutshell I love Linux I love Linux principals and I look forward to helping out on these forums and sharing my Knowledge

Hi Ryan, welcome to the Linux Mint forums :D Thanks for joining the forums! And you're making a living from Linux? Awesome 8)

As you mention you have expertise with Intel IGP; I'm currently suffering from lock ups on my HD 3000 with no definite solution found yet. If you have the time, have a look at my support request here http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=113043. I'm not getting it stable :(

Be sure also to check out the Community website (ideas, tutorials, and hardware and software reviews), and the Cinnamon Spices website for adding even more themes, applets and extensions to Cinnamon.

You can also chat in real-time with other Linux Mint users. In the Mint Menu, in the Internet section, start the application XChat IRC. You will automatically get connected to #linuxmint-chat for general chat and #linuxmint-help for support with other Linux Mint users.

Have fun with Linux Mint.
