I have no idea what happened. I was running Mint 13 Xfce. I ran MintUpdate and when it finished I turned my computer off.
The next time I turned it back on, it booted into KDE instead of XFCE. I've tried searching for a solution, but it seems like this is not a common problem. What went wrong? How do I fix it without completely re-installing Linux?
Help! Where'd my Xfce go?

- what app you installed lately (might be hard but try to remember)?
- give us please the output of (we need to see the entry relative to the day you are reporting)
- give us also the output of
