Help! Where'd my Xfce go?

Post by mabell0185 »

I have no idea what happened. I was running Mint 13 Xfce. I ran MintUpdate and when it finished I turned my computer off.

The next time I turned it back on, it booted into KDE instead of XFCE. I've tried searching for a solution, but it seems like this is not a common problem. What went wrong? How do I fix it without completely re-installing Linux?

that is an odd one, i've seen reports of several mutations (xfce to gnome3 specially) but never from xfce to kde;

- first of all don't stress, xfce is still there, you just have to choose it at the login window :P

- now you want to know why this happened (and we too :lol: ) but for that you have to help us:
- what app you installed lately (might be hard but try to remember)?
- give us please the output of

Code: Select all

cat /var/log/apt/history.log
(we need to see the entry relative to the day you are reporting)
- give us also the output of

Code: Select all
