[SOLVED] can't install K3B

Postby AbeFreeman on Sun Sep 30, 2012 4:46 pm

Mint 13, tried to install K3B since Brassero has wasted more disks than it's successfully burned for me in both Mint 9 and 10. But when I try to install K3B I get this error message from package manager: W: Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/ ... _amd64.deb
404 Not Found [IP: 91.189.92.184 80]

and it doesn't install.
I've tried changing my software sources, but get the same error whether I use "Main Server" or the Canadian one (University of Waterloo).
Can anyone help with this?

Thanks so much

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

That fixed it, although I've no idea why. Thanks!

zerozero's solution worked for me too in Mint Cinnamon 13. Thanks zerozero. :D

For those newbies like me who might find that explanation a bit too brief, I add that I opened Terminal, entered "apt update" (without the quotes). Terminal responded asking for my password. When I entered it several lines of code flashed by. Apparently this command causes Mint to look for updates for all packages in repositories used by Mint. I believe this allowed K3B to be installed using up-to-date copies of the related programs that it needed in order to install properly.
