unable to find a medium containig a live file system & more

Linux Mint 13 lmde(mate):

Every attemp to install LM13 lmde crashes.
The first problem - unable to find a medium ... - occurs with all debian based distros (ubuntu and mint).
After starting in compatibility mode this message appears after approx. 3 minutes.
After the 8th or 9th attempt the installer got past this problem, only to run into a new problem:

The live session is starting and a taskbar shows op at the bottom of my screen, and at the same time a mouse cursor comes up.
Then a pop-up message tells me something about a console already running, on behalf of the x-server, and a question must be answered by hitting a button 'yes' or 'no'.
This is impossible because keyboard and mouse do not yet work (groan!).

Mainboard Gigabyte ga-ma-790udxp with AMD Phenom 955.

The problem was caused by a wifi interface with a Broadcom chipset b43.
After removing the interface installation went perfect
