Users have commented that the developers can't fix it but that it should be resolved "upstream" sometime. Hopefully. But no updates from update manager, or terminal (running apt get update, or install or upgrade) ever fixed it.
I have had this problem with 14 since installation and nothing seemed to cure it but I will say that yesterday I went into the power settings and came out again (without changing anything, 'cos I had already changed whatever I wanted and nothing had changed so I didnt change anything) and today, suddenly the computer springs to life on hitting the power button from suspend!!
I hadnt applied any updates at all and none have shown up automatically but suddenly suspend works. Curiously I have checked and while the hard drive does seem to spin down in suspend, spin down hard drive isnt checked in the power settings
You might like to start using 14? I gave up on 13 when I couldnt get touchpad tap-to-click (which is so important that it should be enabled by default) to work and there is a helpful very elderly bug report on it with no suggestion of any cure or workaround.
