without nVidia drvs

Postby JhonQ on Wed Oct 10, 2012 7:33 pm

Hello, this is my first post. I don'y speak english. I'm going to try to describe my issue.
I just install LMDE 13 MATE 32 bits. I have no problem but I don't want to install de privative drivers of nVidia. Since I have a GT8500, using "free drivers" I feel good, but sometimes the letters into "direccion bar" ( any webbrowser), or into a terminal window during, for example an update, the characters get wrong. I've tried changing Typos or propierties of the typographies, but anything work.
I've read about a xorg.conf, but it doesn't exist in my brand new installation.
Can you help me?
Thanks anyway.

look in synaptic for more fonts, something supporting your language

check locale coding

type in terminal

dpkg-reconfigure locales

nouveau drivers are working very well on some machines, no need to change if working well
