Toshiba L305d-S5934 - brightness issue.. help please

Post by cyclejopple »

OK... firstly I love Linux mint 13 all editions. I am using Mint 13 KDE 64 bit for my laptop currently on DVD live just to check it out. It is running very nice despite one problem. I am not able to change the screen brightness. There is a brightness control that I can access by clicking the battery icon in the system tray. This control has no effect no matter where I position the brightness slider. Is there a way to get the brightness adjusted on this laptop?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

I am afraid I cant give you a solution, but as I see this KDE forum is a bit sparse in info, I suggest you do a search for other linuxes where your notebook problem might appear. I had to do this, I solved my brightness problem myself, lurking into a bodhilinux forum. find your graphic card model, my problem was related to it, and acpi. good luck.

HI,

-- Thanks for the kind reply.

I am attempting to look up the card.

ATI Radeon 3100 HyperMemory.

Hopefully I will find something. So far no results.

Thanks again.

and this: http://www.linwik.com/wiki/configuring+ ... untu+12.04

somebody did an opensuse 11 guide on this machine, it looks ati drivers might be worth looking and acpi as usual. there is discussion of several issues, including brightness.
gook luck.
