notification area background

Postby rogfish on Wed Oct 17, 2012 4:55 pm

Hi! First of all, im sorry if this is the wrong location for my post. I am tired after sitting in my chair trying to figure this out for two days (exept when im at work ofc)

I have tried to theme my Mint 13 (mate) desktop for two days now. Everything worked perfectly at first, but then I had to format and reinstall the distro all over again. But what ever I try, I cant get the background of the notification area to work (on my panel, screenshow below). The background on these three items wont change to the correct color when using almost every theme I try.

Screenshot (very large..) http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11318803/Screenshot.png

The theme im trying to get to work correctly now is this one: http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Ambiance+%26+Radiance+Themes+for+Xfce%26LXDE?content=146674

And again, Im sorry if this is the wrong spot for my question/problem.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Hey rogfish,

The problem you're facing is that the theme (iirc, ANY theme) doesn't affect the background colour as defined by panel.rc.
Check out the post here: http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/tips-and-tricks-linux-mint-after-installation-mint-13-maya-mate-edition.htm#Set-Full-Transparent-Panel.

It talks you through it. I should mention that when I did it on my laptop (one screen, Mint 13, MATE) it all worked fine.
When I tried it on my home machine which has two screens (like yours) each connected to a different graphics card, it didn't work... and I'm yet to solve it.

Would be interested to hear how you get on.
