I use this in my Crontab...
0 * * * * mplayer /home/dave/.sounds/chime.wav >/dev/null 2>&1
*/10 * * * * /home/dave/bin/grabber.sh >/dev/null 2>&1
*/10 * * * * /home/dave/bin/cam_picture.sh >/dev/null 2>&1
grabber.sh takes a screenshot and puts it in my home folder
cam_picture.sh takes a pic with cam and puts it in my home folder
