I need to backup the contents of my son's external hard drive that he uses on his Macbook. He is overseas.
Do I need access to a Mac computer to do it?
Or can I do it with Mint 10?
When I plug it in, I can't see it.

Re: Backing up a Macintosh ext Hard Drive
Discovered that I was using the wrong cable to plug it in with.
GParted tells me that it uses the hfs+ filetype.
Unfortunately, there are some folders that I get told in Mint 10 that I do not have permissions to open.
My son emailed me and said, "The drive is osx file system, but any bit level drive duplicator will do the job fine."
So, is there a bit level drive duplicator for Linux Mint 10?

Re: Backing up a Macintosh ext Hard Drive
I've come across Clonezilla and G4L.
One of them might do what I want.
I'll have to get a new hard drive first though. My 2TB drive is formatted fat32 and GParted can't find a mount point so I can't resize it to make a partition to fit my sons stuff on.

I used Clonezilla and it worked perfectly.
