Skype with *Maya XFCE - which camera? HD?

Post by MintOStheFreshmaker »

Hi all, I was able to get Skype 4.0 working (2.2 didn't) with another mic but the picture quality is rather poor. Admittedly impatient and not so knowledgeable, I thought this time instead of putting in the time I figured why not support hardware that is known to work well with Linux anyway, provided it's not too expensive rather than do the detailed troubleshooting? In searching the database I came up with this list that is listed as working perfectly with Maya:

Chicony 2.OM UVC Webcam CNF7129
Creative Live ! - VF02060
Creative Live Cam Socialize L8
Dany PC-815
HP (Hewlett-Packard) C3110
Logitec liv-100
Logitech C-170
Logitech C160
Logitech C200
Logitech C905 - M/N: V-U0010
Logitech QuickCam E 3500
Logitech QuickCam E3500
Logitech Webcam C600
Microsoft HD 3000
Microsoft Lifecam VX-5000

However I guess I'm posting this here because I don't know if the issue is with the Linux Mint compatibility of the cam or Skype. So I'm looking for a recommendation to have a solution that works out of the box, and hopefully HD/720p. Has anyone else had another model that works well with Skype?

While many webcams work, I use a Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000. It works in Skype, Cheese, guvcview, etc.
