Pixma iP100 Bluetooth Printing

Post by clone1008 »

Total noob here trying to get my Canon Pixma iP100 setup to print via bluetooth. I can print fine when connected to usb. I can also setup the printer to connect in bluetooth devices and it seems to install as a bluetooth printer. I can print something if I send it as a file but when I try to print from within a document it says printing canceled. I also can not print a test page via bluetooth. Can someone help? I use this on the road for business and would love to make the switch over to linux.

You need to provide more information, see how to get help

When setup as a Bluetooth printer is it listed separately (to the USB device) in System Settings | Printers? If so ensure you add yourself to the list of allowed users by clicking Options then the + and entering your login username. Also you could try going to http://localhost:631/ and looking at the log files after you get the cancelled message (you may have to turn on debugging logging beforehand on the Administration tab) to see if that helps?

To answer your questions:
Yes it is listed seperatlely in Printers...I have also listed myself as an allowed user as you suggested but no luck.
Here is the error I get from the log file:
E [03/Nov/2012:05:31:18 -0400] Returning IPP client-error-document-format-not-supported for Send-Document (ipp://localhost:631/printers/Canon_iP100_BT) from localhost

I am not clear how deeply-read on bluetooth that you are; help us understand this;

I am yet to dabble deeply in bluetooth

you said
I use this on the road for business
and I note that Ubuntu commented https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BluetoothSetup
For Dell laptops install the latest drivers from Dell's website in Windows in order for the bluetooth module to work in Linux. (Required for D430 with Gutsy / Hardy and D830 and D630) (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=572335 https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTe ... #bluetooth)

For Dell laptops with a Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth card where the card is turned off, reenable the card before installation. Go to a utility in Windows to turn it on before you can reinstall the driver. If you turn the card off in Windows reenable the card so Ubuntu can recognize it.
............I don't know if that advice is still current ......... but perhaps shows how disclosing the hardware and systems may help all....................

as Mint is derived from Ubuntu, one often can find on Ubuntu much documentation

eg https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bluetooth

and

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BluetoothSetup

............ as you say you can print perfectly via USB, I am assuming you have a functioning printer driver.........the Canon ip100 driver? ........

so for bluetooth, an issue seems to be pairing ........
