I recommend you use synaptic, and start with remove mate applications, next mate and finally caja.

Use synaptic because is more efficient in these cases other, option is download Mint Cinnamon 13 and add lmde and debian repo later.

Good luck.

Well, I just used the above list and copied and pasted everything with 'mate' in the title. It wasn't so bad....

Install a package called upgrade-system, then run it from a terminal.

Code: Select all

sudo upgrade-system
It'll ferret out any libraries and dependencies you might have missed. I use it on all new installs and upgrades.

Now that's a clean system! Only thing to do now is reboot and hope for the best.

I've never had that utility bork a system yet. It's amazing the cruft you can get rid of, even in a brand new installation.

Yes, I like it! Thanks!

Are there any commands you can pass to it when you run it? Like -f or something? It stopped and asked me a few times if I wanted to keep going.. Things like that. I tried to pass command to it but couldn't find a help file to go with it.

Even so it is a great helper!

No, I haven't found any switches or anything that works. I just do as you did and keep hitting Y when it finds more stuff to delete :)
