Essentially I've had this issue on and off for some time. After recent updates to my Mint KDE it seems the issue has gotten worse. My Wifi dongle freezes up. I either get a solid light or no light on the dongle and the WiFi goes down till I unplug and replug. I have been using the XP driver for this dongle via a bridge as recommended to me. I wonder if the native Linux driver has been improved and if I should go back to using that. As it stands now the WiFi dongle seems to lock up repeatedly.

It could just be a faulty adapter, have you confirmed it works consistently in another machine/port/OS? Apart from that you have loaded the Windows driver, was there a particular reason for this as there is native support for that chipset? If the answer is no I would suggest removing the Windows driver via Windows Wireless Drivers and seeing if the native one works after a reboot.

Essentially I was using the native Linux driver but experienced some occasional freeze ups/drop outs so I switched to the windows driver which seemed to improve things until recently (and this is post a number of updates to my KDE) and now it's quite bad with connections. I will test further with other OS as well try reverting back to Linux driver.
