I have been away from the mint crowd recently but i heard a rumour ...................... is the new release out?? I have been wanting a new slice of minty goodness for my computer for awhile now.
Also what would you recommend as a DE? I know what the choices are, but which flavour of mint pie shall I be infusing my desktop with?
mint 14??

Re: mint 14??
Hi steveking9174,
Mint 14 RC was released yesterday it's not final yet but I have had very little trouble with it and final should not be far off.
as to the DE it your Choice try them all you can easily do that without re-installing by simply installing the meta package for the
desired desktop from the repositories.
Here the Download link for 14 RC

Re: mint 14??
Hi kc1di
I am just burning to disc now! With regards to this edition when the final is released will I be able to just keep the RC and update/upgrade? What does it mean by RC?? is this final beta testing stage?
I have gone for Cinnamon, as when i was using mint 13 i enjoyed the usability of it. I am keen to seen what has changed in 14! I have read through the blog post and i must admit i am rather excited! The project looks to have grown so well since i last used mint!
Many Thanks for your advice.
stay minty.

This is the same for me as well. I am going to give Cinnamon a try since the release notes look so interesting. This is still my favorite distro although lately I was running straight Ubuntu. I was interested and wanted to see what was coming down the pipe. But now I will be sticking with Mint. I just has that friendly feeling ^^
Re: mint 14??
Hi again RC mean Release Candidate and it is normally the final testing stage before release of finish Distribution.
And yes if you keep the RC updated it is the same as the final when it arrives.
Cheers!
