Booting Linux Mint 64-bit MATE from USB freezes

Postby dpitch40 on Mon Nov 12, 2012 8:49 pm

I am in the process of upgrading my computers to Linux Mint 64-bit. I got it to boot fine from USB on my old laptop and got to play around, but can't boot from USB on my desktop. It appears to freeze at some point during the boot process, after getting to the Linux Mint boot screen with the options. When I try booting in compatibility mode, the last two lines of output before it freezes are:

[ 0.978103] ACPI: Power Button [PWRF]
[ 0.978202] ACPI: processor limited to max C-state 1

Does anyone know why it isn't working with my desktop? (It is definitely 64-bit compatible) Or anything else I can try?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Hello.
In the bios of newer computer there is setting you have to change to allow differnt software other than window to install.
I think it is in scecurity area. I had problem like this. They called it protection from malicious software setting.
