cant find the display manager startup script file in LMDE Linux mint 3.2.0-3-686-pae Cinnamon
Please help

can anyone explain what is needed to be done ?

I believe all forms of Mint are now using "mdm" as their display manager

look at directory /etc/X11/Xsession.d and /etc/mdm
Read man Xsessions and related man pages
