Hello,
I recently install Linux Mint 13 Mate and I love it! Works much better than 12. Ok, here is my issue.
I have to install Quicktime and before you tell me that all the correct plug-in's are already installed and it should run my DVD it cannot and will not.
Why? Because it is an interactive DVD from the Berkley School of Music and will only run in Quicktime on Windows or Mac machine period. In fact, the way this DVD launches it opens using exe. and loads a window that looks nothing like Quicktime ... apparently it was made with Macomedia and the actual viewing area is very crude. I tried running on my Windows and Mac machines but, I would rather run it LInux since that the machine in my studio.
I tried in install Quicktime - windows version using WINE and it crashed on install.
Any ideas on how to get Quicktime to run in Linux Mint 13 Mate ? Thank-you !!

--which guide did you use to install quicktime under wine..
--macromedia/dreamweaver, Ms office will all run in a VM with a windows OS installed..

- Since it uses an *.exe file, that will be a requirement (wine..)

Re: Install Quicktime
Thanks Dr.
I tried the guide you suggested - I could not install that version of Quicktime because there seems to be issues with WINE and QT. Check out this mess http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... n&iId=1029
Any thoughts?

Re: Install Quicktime
Ok people ... I found a work around ...
Just for the record Quicktime and WINE are not best friends - if you look at the link I posted in my prevoius post you will see there are a lot of issues with QT/WINE.
However, I found that if I open the DVD and go to the Video file folder and open Chapter one file folder and click on it VLC opens and I have video and sound!
I don't have the fancy frontend they designed but, it plays just the same! Why they designed the DVD to only be playable with Quicktime is beyond me and just stupid. Personally, it I am running a windows machine I don't want QT on it ... the program is pain. itunes is the only program I can think of that is cool.. just sayin
