Hi all. I have some video clips I want to edit. They are clips from my workouts that I want to analyze. I want to be able to clip out a certain sections of the clips, slow them down, and save them. As in, one video might be 45 seconds long but there's only 5-10 seconds I am interested in. I want to grab just that 5-10 seconds and save it to a separate file. I also want to slow it down. I know I can slow it down on playback but I want to be able to upload the clips to the youtubes for sharing with my coach.
Can someone recommend a tool that will do this?
Thx,
Mark

Re: Video editing tool
Try Openshot, it's a great piece of software and it's in the Software Centre.
Re: Video editing tool
i ocasionally use avidemux.
i also heard about cinellera but i never managed to work with it.
there are also a command line tool named ffmpeg but for me, it is pretty hard to work with it.

Thanks all. I'm using a combination of avidemux and openshot. avidemux to rotate** the clips (some of them I took 'sideways' to make better use of the camera's field of view) and I managed to figure out how to use openshot to clip out the parts I want. Haven't figured out how to slow them down yet.
**openshot rotates too but when I tried it, it rotated the video without rotating the ... 'canvas' for lack of a better word. Think displaying a 9x16 image on a 16x9 background.

Re: Video editing tool
The speed of clip selection is available when you r.click on the video in the timeline (as is rotate). You can speed up as well as down.
Re: Video editing tool
Got it! Thanks ... got everything looking the way I wanted it.
Re: Video editing tool
If you're still looking, I like LiVES from the small amount I've used it. It does import the entire clip into frames, so it takes a while to import clips. It will do everything you asked, and it will record individual windows too.
Re: Video editing tool
The latest openshot is great for a simple editor Pitivi is nice too, but openshot seems a bit more stable.
