AMD Radeon HD 6800 issues

Postby pierreluc102 on Wed Nov 21, 2012 11:54 am

Hi,

Is there any problem with the AMD Radeon HD 6800 series? I am having problems with most of the 3D games I am trying to play, including plat games on Wine, such as World of Warcraft, or Warcraft III.

I have yet to try other games, but here are my issues:

WoW: Screen goes black, with millions of little cubes, looking like graphic card relics

WC3: Lags, makes it about 15 FPS.

Is there anything I'm missing?

I am currently on LM13, with the proprietary drives installed

Thank you.
Recently moved all my Windows systems to LM12! Reading, and reading tutos to master the OS!

Maybe you can try installing a newer driver (after deactivating the one from Additional Drivers): http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/l ... linux.aspx

Installed it, and it's even worst.

Now WC3 asks me for a CDkey..

And WoW has a blank screen.

edit:1- had to --force the install

2- I have re-formated my system, brand clean. What should I do now to test things?

3- OK, so after a load of tests, I have been able to install the driver correctly (The one from AMD) Game launch, but still is very slow. WoW has MANY relics, see picture below. I'd have to try with other games.

Anyone have any suggestions?

That is strange.

I am running a 7990 devil 13 card on mate 14 with no game issues. When you install catalyst 12.10, it deletes fglrx. So once you install the video drivers, you need to go into package manager and reinstall fglrx and everything is fixed. I also play World of warcraft.

Does your video card do that with other games? Sometimes when the screen is like your picture, sometimes there is bad memory either motherboard or video card.

I run wow in opengl.. Better fps.
