I could not boot the linuxmint 14 from the hard disk; however, I was able to boot it from the disk in the disk drive G, but everything was so slow to go; therefore, I wish to know how to solve this dilemma.
Please advise.

What is "disk drive G"? You mean when booted from the installation DVD? Then please boot again from the installation DVD, and run the following command from the terminal. Post the output of it here.
