After Upgrade Mint 14 x-session does not complete load

Post by schirrmie »

Hi,
Yesterday I've upgraded my Linux Mint 13 to Mint 14 via apt. I change the source.list und made the upgrade via Update Manager.
I use lightdm as display manager and cinnamon. Now with linux Mint 14 after I logged in I see that the top and bottom panel is load, I see the mouse cursor and a black desktop. It does not load completly. I can move the mouse but I can't open the menu or any else. I must switch to tty1 (ctrl+alt+F1) and after that back to tty7, after that the desktop is completly load and I can work. It is strange and I can't see any failure. Does anybody know this behavior? I hope anybody can help me.

I also tried mdm as display manager but with mdm it completly failed to load the x-session. I get an error that it failed to load the x-session and only a xterm is shown.
Hope anybody can help me!

Greetings

i'm sorry but mint doesn't recommend in-place upgrades, they are buggy, risky and more often than not cause more troubles than the ones you are trying to avoid.
a clean install is the recommended procedure, for more info see >> http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/2
