bootloader same as Nadia?

Postby geoffm on Sat Nov 24, 2012 4:21 am

I'd like to give LMDE a try, but there are a couple of things I'd like to make sure first.
I was a bit surprised how different the installer looked from LM14's. It asked if I wanted to install grub and where - even though I already specified my /boot partition. Now I just want to make sure that it won't affect the bootability of my LM14 installation.
Here's the setup I want to use:
sda1 ntfs 40GB /windows
sda2 ext4 100MB /boot
sda3 ntfs 200GB /mnt/data
sda4 extended
sda5 ext4 14GB /mnt/mint14
sda6 ext4 14GB /
sda7 swap 4GB

I already have Nadia installed on sda5, and grub2 is installed on sda2 (or I guess it is, because I used sda2 as /boot when I installed Nadia)

When I installed Nadia, it detected that Maya was installed on sda6 so it created a grub2 entry to allow me to boot the previous installation. But I'm not even sure LMDE uses grub2, does it?
Can you reassure me that my boot setup will be preserved, i.e. I will still be able to boot Nadia after I install LMDE?
