Cinnamon 1.4 received X Window System error (BadValue)

Postby SolarSystem on Sun Nov 25, 2012 9:19 pm

For my primary/admin user account when I log in with Cinnamon I now get a black screen with no UI - no menus or anything. The mouse cursor is present and can be moved & I can use ctrl-alt-del to log out. That seems to be it.

Cinnamon is still working fine on an alternate user account.

Could someone help me figure out what went wrong and how to fix it?

From .xsession-errors
Window manager warning: Log level 16: The program 'cinnamon' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'.
(Details: serial 569 error_code 2 request_code 151 minor_code 31)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment
variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
