Screen brightness resets every start.

Post by smssms »

Every time I start up I get full brightness LCD screen, regardless of how I set it in the session.

I'm running Mint 13 64-bit with Cinnamon on my Sony Vaio notebook (AMD Radeon™ HD 7340 Graphics, AMD E2-1800 Accelerated Processor)

I tried adding the following to /etc/rc.local, but did not cure it (I think permission to edit is denied, even with sudo or when I 'chmod o+w').

Code: Select all

echo 3> /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness

N.B. I used 3 as there seem to be 15 brightness levels to choose from with lower being dimmer.

Can anybody suggest how to make the screen less bright every start?

EDIT

I tried adding the following to /etc/default/grub, but all it did was remove all brightness controls (slider and F keys!)

Code: Select all

acpi_backlight=vendor

I'm having exactly the same problem, but I'm running Linux Mint 13 on a DELL Vostro 2520 laptop. Everytime I restart the brights sets itself to maximum.
