Cannot get BCM4313 working

Postby SpaceSentinel on Wed Sep 19, 2012 1:05 pm

Hi everyone

I've got a Lenovo G580 which has a BCM4313 wireless and Atheros AR8162. Linux Mint 13 Maya.

I took me a while but I eventually found and built the Atheros driver to at least get wired internet going.

Despite spending many hours trying to get the wireless going I just can't get it working. I've tried various things but the main thing that seems to be stopping it now is this:

Sep 19 18:00:06 Lenovo-G580 kernel: [ 3456.686534] wl: disagrees about version of symbol lib80211_get_crypto_ops
Sep 19 18:00:06 Lenovo-G580 kernel: [ 3456.686539] wl: Unknown symbol lib80211_get_crypto_ops (err -22)

I found this article which is pretty close:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/395630

I don't seem to have any backports but nothing works. Seems to be an incompatibilty with the lib80211 version?

This is the output from uname:
Linux Lenovo-G580 3.2.0-23-generic #36-Ubuntu SMP Tue Apr 10 20:39:51 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I'm almost thinking its impossible to fix - at least that how I feel after four hours!

Thanks

Hi,
my wireless is still not working:
02:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN Controller [14e4:4727] (rev 01)

I tried the options explained in ubuntu forum links but linux-firmware-nonfree and the alternative bcmwl-kernel-source are not working for me.

What can I do?

I am using linux mint 13 with kernel 3.6.8

thanks for any help!

You don't seem to have the wireless driver installed for this version of Mint.

Download the appropriate driver from the link below and copy to a USB.
http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php

Please read this post to understand how to install from the USB >> viewtopic.php?f=53&p=653935#p653935

Important: You will need to install the appropriate broadcom driver from your usb.. the above link is an example which list drivers for Atheros chip. In your case for the lenovo/broadcom, the process is the same.. but the wireless driver you need is on your USB.
