I'm running Linux Mint 13 - Mate, and can't find the Sound Recorder.
Synaptic Package Manager says that mate-media-common is installed and that it contains the Gnome sound recorder.
It doesn't appear anywhere in the Main Menu, so where can I find it?
EDIT: I'm running the 3.6.6-030606-generic kernel

Re: Can't find MATE Sound Recorder
I've solved the issue by installing Gnome media utilities from Synaptic, but still doesn't explain the OP.
