Baackground colour of start menu

Hi,

Is it possibble to change the metalic background colour of the start menu and 'Welcome to Linux Mint Page' of Linux Mint MATE edition. I am using version 14.

The start menu background is controlled by the Cinnamon theme (usr/share/themes/THEME NAME/cinnamon/cinnamon.css). The Welcome Screen background isn't meant to be changed with themes.

Found you can change the start menu background by right clicking on menu and choosing preferences. Choose the Theme tab. I chose Mist.
