LM13 XFCE: How to remove entries from the Games menu?

Post by mingle »

Hi all,

I installed the 'gnome-games' package via Package Manager and it has created entries for 15 new games.

However, I only really wanted Swell Foop, so it would be nice to be able to remove the other entries
from the menu (I can't see any way to uninstall the individual games, which is a pain in the rump).

But when I navigate to the game icon (on the Games menu), right-click and select "Delete from menu"
the entry reappears almost immediately.

Is there any way I can remove entries from menus, or will the Package Manager (or other process) keep
putting them back?

Cheers,

Mike.

Synaptic should give a list of the game names in the description of the package and you should be able to uninstall individual games.

If not here is a list of the games in the package...not sure if it's current though. Just search in synaptic for the game name eg. gnome-sudoku and mark for removal and apply.

glchess: chess game with 3D graphics
glines: make color lines of five or more length
gnect: four-in-a-row game for GNOME
gnibbles: snake game, up to four players
gnobots2: improved old BSD robots game
gnome-games: games for the GNOME desktop
gnome-games-data: data files for the GNOME games
gnome-mahjongg: classic Eastern tile game for GNOME
gnome-sudoku: Sudoku puzzle game for GNOME
gnomine: popular minesweeper puzzle game for GNOME
gnotravex: put tiles on a board and match their edges together
gnotski: Klotski puzzle game for GNOME
gtali: sort of poker with dice and less money
iagno: popular Othello game for GNOME
lightsoff: Light puzzle game
mahjongg: classic Eastern tile game for GNOME (transitional package)
quadrapassel: popular Russian game, similar to Tetris
swell-foop: Colored ball puzzle game

If you install "alacarte" (Main Menu) you will have control over your menu entries. Right click on the entry, remove the tick from the box and select "delete".
