I would like to try out Linux mint to see how the new interfaces are coming. I miss the gnome 2.x style interface. My system is around 1.6 ghz, and is a duo core intel. I run a so-so nvida video card.
I'm sure all these cinnamon / mate / 32 / 64 ver # etc choices are cool, but what would be the smoothest / most stable one for me to try. TYIA

Re: Hi all.
Why not try out both? I'm running Cinnamon 32-bit on my AMD 5400+ (dual core, 2.8GHz; onboard Nvidia 9100 graphics); 32-bit because I've only got 4GB RAM, and, I might try also it out on my older P4 system. I haven't looked at Mate. I've seen enough of Unity (Ubuntu 12.10) and GnomeShell (Fedora 18) to know I don't like either (I now run LXDE desktops in those distros), but Cinnamon seems quite reasonable.
