Hello, alexa1970.
How set new kernel
Either launch Synaptic and tell it to refresh the software packages list.
Doing so should make Synaptic display a list of up to 500 available updates, among them the current kernel 3.2.0-34 as well.
Accept all available updates for installation.
Depending on the speed of your internet connection and of your machine be prepared for an update session which may take up to 2 hours.
As a reward for your patience you will be running an up-to-date Mint 13.
Or, if you prefer to use the Mint Updater for the same purpose, launch it. Go to Edit => Preferences. Activate all five categories of software updates. Click on [Apply]. Allow Mint Updater to update the list of available updates. Click on [Install available updates].
