Hi LM community, I need some advice that will help me transistion to linux and help me leave windows.
After installing Linux Mint on my friend's netbook, I have decided that I want to run Linux on my laptop. The trouble is on my laptop, I still need for windows 7 (installed on C: drive) for work purposes, however my laptop is partitioned with a D: DATA drive which is completly unused.
Now I know how to install Linux Mint by using "install side by side" option but I need to partiton manually for it to go on my D: drive and leave C: alone. My D: is 111GB, I have 4GB ram so I know swap space should be 6-8GB but what about the '/' (root) space and other space and any other factors that I need to know about when I am faced with the partition screen.
P.S, I am not conerned with using my D: Data drive for windows, I keep my files, programmes, apps, drivers backed up and off the laptop compleatly.
Thank you very much,
Andy.
