Ubuntu 13.04 is mostly aimed at mobile devices such as laptops, netbooks, phones and tablets. And shuttleworth wanting Smart TV and cloud also. Tells me he is no longer into the Linux crowd but wants to start capitalizing on making money the good ole fashion way like all the other Main stream OS'es. With Mass Market Selling.
Not saying in itself that is evil to make money. But ignoring your hardcore linux users that made linux and Ubuntu forums work successfully. And then removing transparency from future developments and ignoring feedback from long time users does not bode well for my idea of what Linux is about and not my type of a Work system.
If I wanted a Home consumption Media server streaming clouding all my purchases and consuming my media. I wouldn't be on my Work Computer. I would be in front of my Media center or tablet, etc.
Just seems each release is becoming less distinctive and more blending and merging into the realm of Mass Media Consumption Devices. Which is flooded with devices. Making Ubuntu in just another small tadpole in a Large Pond!
If there was a like button for that, I would hit it a million times!
While I do use a laptop, it was okay under 12.04 (I much prefered 11.10, so partly my fault for upgrading), but I could not, and would not, use 12.10 just for that one simple reason. I do hope that Mint doesn't head that direction (I don't think they will, but I don't think anyone ultimately expected Ubuntu to go that route either!)
I am going to have to go into the tech area and ask a couple of questions instead of hijacking my own "Welcome to the forum" thread! LoL
Either way, thank you again for that post! I thought I was the only one feeling that way. I just have a hard time putting it into words!
