System hang at shutdown / reboot when WICD installed

Postby lunatico on Thu Dec 06, 2012 12:48 pm

This is a very strange problem. I wanted to start using WICD because I know I'll get a more stable connection to wifi at work than what I get with NM.
So I installed WICD and uninstalled (purged) NM.

WICD works fine I can configure it and connect to my networks. It's not as nice as NM but it's more stable, my connection with NM drops to often.

The weird thing is that with WICD installed when I try to reboot or shutdown the computer just hangs there, I'll have to keep the power button pressed to shut it down.

If I look at syslog the last line logged is:
Dec 6 16:33:34 laptop rsyslogd: [origin software="rsyslogd" swVersion="5.8.6" x-pid="665" x-info=""] exiting on signal 15.

If I install NM and remove wicd the problem goes away. Also, if my laptop is in the docking station the problem does not happen.

I tried Googling a lot and a few things but haven't found a solution.

Any ideas?
