64 bits, panel on second monitor?

Post by abcd »

I did a google site search and did not find an answer to this question:

How do I add a panel to my second monitor? I had it set in mint 13. The only solution I've found is to use the hide buttons to send it to the second monitor. I would like a separate panel for each monitor.

Just in case this might raise some confusion, I am NOT ASKING about WINDOW LISTS, just getting it to let me put a newly created panel on a monitor other than default.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Is your second monitor a duplicate or extension? What panels are you using? The most versatile panel to configure and perhaps the lightest panel installation wise is Tint2: http://lxlinux.com/tint2.html. You can put them anywhere!

[SOLVED] 64 bits, panel on second monitor?

Post by abcd »

It's a bit odd the way it works, but here is the solution:

http://forums.mate-desktop.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=813

http://chrisjean.com/2009/11/03/move-gn ... in-ubuntu/

Right-click the panel you wish to move and select “Properties”.
Uncheck the “Expand” option under the “General” tab.
Grab one of the edges of the panel by clicking on the left or right end (top or bottom end for vertical panels).
Drag the bar to the desired screen and position.
Check the “Expand” option in the “Panel Properties” window and click “Close”.

edit:

As a side note, the window list seems to automatically know what windows are on what monitor now!

Just a belated Thanks for this solution!
Here it is 2015 and your solution is still helping others ... I now have a panel on my second monitor which automatically goes back to 1st monitor when I disconnect 2nd monitor, just what I needed.
