Hi!
I consider myself a total newbie in the linux world, and have just installed cinnamon 14. Though i like it very much, it won't open any system settings. If I go to menu -> Cinnamon settings it opens and I can set all those things. But if I go to menu -> System settings the loading circle comes up, loads for about 10 seconds, and nothing happens. Same goes for menu -> brightness and lock which is part of system settings, if I am correct. And keyboard layout as well and probably many other settings too.
I tried rebooting, searching google for this, and it seems that only I have a problem with this. Is there any way I can access these system settings via terminal or somehow?
Oh, I'm using Linux mint cinnamon 14, 64bit.
Thank you for your help

Re: Cinnamon 14 won't open system settings
I had this same problem - Mint stopped launching the System Settings panel and several other important panels. Turns out I'm the one who broke it - I switched the system from Python 2.7 to 3.4. Specifically I went into /usr/bin and made the "python" symbolic link point to python34 instead of python27. I didn't realize that there are a lot of ubuntu/mint applications defaulting to 2.7
When I restored that symbolic link to point to 2.7 everything worked again.

Thanks for sharing your solution with us. Much appreciated.
Yet, as this thread had been asleep for more than 2.5 years before, it will be locked. It is about a much older Mint and Cinnamon release.
