How do you play WMV files

Postby jacatone on Fri Dec 07, 2012 3:40 pm

I'm using LM 13 XFCE and can't seem to play WMV files. Installed the w32codecs and mplayer but no luck. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

If your OS is 32-bit Mint ignore this, but if you are using 64-bit then you need to use w64codecs, not w32codecs.

Also you may want to try opening a wmv video through mplayer in terminal 'mplayer /home/whatever/video.wmv' and see if it gives any specific errors.

Install VLC.. then open the file manager and right-click on the movie and select properties. Click the Open with tab and select VLC.
