[SOLVED] Dropbox overlay icons visible in Nautilus, but not in Nemo
Mint 14, Cinnamon, 32-bit.
Installed dropbox as always from the dropbox-site.
Syncing is no problem; however, overlay icons (synchronized, not yet synchronized) are missing. I tried changing theme and icons, and tried
https://www.dropbox.com/help/154/en
Unlinking, relinking, reinstalling and so on: no overlay icons.
Any suggestions?

Re: Dropbox overlay icons not showing in Mint 14
Hi.
I'm new to mint. How do I install dropbox? You mentioned I should install from the site. Should I choose debian or Ubuntu? Thanks

Ubuntu, as Mint is based on Ubuntu.
Re: Dropbox overlay icons visible in Nautilus, but not in N
It is due to Nemo: I can see the icons in Nautilus, but not in Nemo. Tested on Mint13-64 laptop with Cinnamon 1.6 and Nemo.Roland wrote:Mint 14, Cinnamon, 32-bit.

Re: Dropbox overlay icons visible in Nautilus, but not in Ne
I have the same issue here, you're not alone.
However, I noticed that there is a nemo-dropbox extension, but requires me to remove dropbox itself. I haven't had the guts to try it out.

Code: Select all
mamlouk@mamloukwks ~ $ sudo aptitude search dropbox
[sudo] password for mamlouk:
p caja-dropbox - Dropbox integration for Caja
i dropbox - Dropbox integration for Nautilus
p libnet-dropbox-api-perl - Perl module providing a dropbox API interf
p nautilus-dropbox - Dropbox integration for Nautilus
p nemo-dropbox - Dropbox integration for Nemo

I had the guts, I did "sudo apt-get install nemo-dropbox" and it says it will remove dropbox before the terminal prompt so I put in Y for yes.ramymamlouk wrote:I have the same issue here, you're not alone.

Then it said use "nemo --quit" to quit any current instances of nemo so I did, but then dropbox was still in my menu and I started it and got the syncing icons.

Re: Dropbox overlay icons visible in Nautilus, but not in Ne
in fact the nemo-dropbox package downloads the dropbox binary again.
so basically the solution is:
then start dropbox from the application menu as indicated
Code: Select all
Downloading Dropbox... 100%
Unpacking Dropbox... 100%
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install nemo-dropbox && nemo --quit

In case someone runs into sim prob on Mint 17.3 Mate 64bit:
(1) Install first the caja dropbox app from software mgr
(2) Then trigger install from that (asks for sudo) from Mint Menu (sym link under Internet tab)
(3) Nothing happens
(4) Manually trigger dropbox install from Mint Menu (sym link under Internet tab)
....
(Final) Seems to have worked

Re: Dropbox overlay icons visible in Nautilus, but not in Nemo
This doesn't seem to work in Mint 18. Tried all the steps mentioned, but no overlay icons.
I installed Dropbox from the Linux repositories. Dropbox itself functions OK.

Re: Dropbox overlay icons visible in Nautilus, but not in Nemo
No one has the same problem?
Re: Dropbox overlay icons visible in Nautilus, but not in Nemo
Surprisingly, no. The original solution of installing nemo dropbox and restarting nemo did the trick for me on 18. I did notice that the emblems were hard to see with the icon theme i am using. Perhaps this is the case for you?Roland wrote:No one has the same problem?

Yes! I changed icons from 'Gnome' to 'Mint-X' and the overlays became visible.I did notice that the emblems were hard to see with the icon theme i am using. Perhaps this is the case for you?
Thank you!
