When I try to minimize Pidgin or Xchat to the tray they don't show up as tray icons as they should. Why?

Fixxxxxxxxxxxxxxed it. In case anyone is having this issue, just add back the "Notification Area". Although for some reason my laptop battery monitor is still not there. confused

So I typed gnome-power-manager into my terminal and got this:
(gnome-power-manager:1991): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.24.1/gobject/gsignal.c:2273: signal `proxy-status' is invalid for instance `0x9503c70'

- Power Manager is already running in this session.

gnome-power-manager() [0x804ebc1]
gnome-power-manager controls the battery indicator, right?

I think it is Power Manager Applet, available by default.
