my ethernet port is not working. i have my computer plugged into my wireless router. here are some details. Why is eth0 unavailable?

Did you either swap cables or otherwise confirm that the cable which you are using is good? Have you used the Ethernet port on this computer before, or is it possibly disabled in a BIOS setting?

i checked the BIOS and NIC is enabled. is there another setting i should look for? the ethernet connection works fine when plugged into my Macbook Pro, but not on the Dell Latitude e6510 running Linux Mint. it has never worked since i installed the OS. only the wireless will connect.
