Which version of Mint?
Do you have a video card with 3D enabled drivers?
How do you enable compiz?
In Daryna it's done from the visual effects tab in "Appearances"

I also found that downloading drivers from Envy was insufficient.

I had to install the restricted Unbuntu drivers package before it would work.

I have the same vid card you have (in sig) and I'm using the "new" nvidia driver. However, I'm having problems with compiz. It will enable, but I get some strange side effects like losing the buttons on my windows, desktop switcher multiplying my 4 desktops by 4 to show 16. Cube rotations work, wobbly windows, etc. I never had these probs in Mint gnome. I've tried to offset these side effects by changing settings to no avail. If you get it running with no problems I'd sure like to know your settings for theme, icons, etc. thanks

@ malixis
It seems to me that you don't have proper 3D drivers
Use Envy to install the drivers
Envy takes care of everything
Then in KDE (but only after you've installed drivers)
Settings > Enable 3D effects
