XFCE Keeps Changing The Default Browser

Post by klepto »

Google chrome is set as the default browser in the preferred applications
but when I click on a link in Thunderbird, firefox opens.

I went so far as to change things in /usr/share/applications/defaults.list
and that worked for a while until I rebooted.

Any idea what this problem is?

did you do that in super user mode?

i put on terminal:

sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/defaults.list

them i change all lines with "firefox.desktop" with "google-chrome.desktop". and them save.

everything is working for me now.

I had the same problem: I could not set chromium as default browser, it seems every time I opened a link by thunderbird this setting was lost.
I edited in super-user mode /usr/share/applications/defaults.list changing every reference reporting firefox.desktop with chromium-browser.desktop and it seems working.

***not in Xfce at moment***

Thunderbird has its own prefferences asking what browser to use for opened links. The mints normally set it, but being a RC it may have not got pre-set. :|

I know this an old post, but, I had the same problem with running Nightly.
You have to Edit Preferences and go to Attachments and scroll down to http and https and click the down arrow and choose there.
