Printing problem

Post by bcipnl »

Hi,
whatever software i use (firefox/thunderbird, photoeditor, document viewer ...) the documents are printed in inintelligible caracters (ps directly?) in a lot of pages ...
I'm using network printers defined in /etc/cups/client.conf on a linux mint maya/mate

Any solution ?
Thanks,
Bruno.

HI

This sounds like a printer driver problem. You have not stated what the printer is.

It is a bunch of different printers i get the list from a print server stated in client. conf.
I tried to declare one of them direcly (added with cups) and disabling client. conf and it worked...
Is there a difference between addressing it direcly or via a server?

cups directly spools to the printer you have selected
but if you are using a print server the server driver overrides the cups printing information and prints raw data using its own driver

It seems that i can print ps files throught the print server! Is it possible then to modify the data to-print i send to the server, converting them to ps ?
Thanks
