mp3split - solved

I recently attempted to install and run mp3split. Two things happened that confused me:

1. When i began installing the .deb file I received a message that there was a newer version in the repository and it was recommended to install that. I opened the software portal and searched - but came up empty. Am I looking in the wrong place?

2. I installed the version that I downloaded, but now I can't figure out how to launch the program. It isn't in the applications menu and I can't figure a way to start it from the terminal.

Any help would be appreciated.

You might have found it there, but normally you check what's in the repos with apt or Synaptic (Package manager)
I think the correct name is Mp3splt which may explain that you can't start it from the command line

If you have to specify a path for it I guess /usr/bin/Mp3splt

Thanks. I must admit that the thing I find the hardest to get used to in moving over from the Windows world is file names being case sensitive! You'd think such a simple thing would stick in my brain a bit quicker. So I'll try it again with the capitalization corrected!

Thanks again - I read your post 3 times before I actually noticed that the name doesn't have an "i" - the things our eyes do.
